Expectations for the Osaka-Kansai Expo

I believe that bringing together cultures from around the world in Kansai and sharing them globally will help elevate the region’s standing. Japan has long faced the challenge of overconcentration in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Hosting the Expo in Kansai holds significance in promoting a more balanced national structure—one in which each region serves as a core in its respective field, working in synergy to shape the nation as a whole.

Expectations for DOIC

Japan has entered an era of population decline, and a tendency to favor stability over challenge —preferring a mindset of shrinking equilibrium—has become increasingly apparent. To break free from this, I hope the Expo will serve as a source of energy that brings together individuals and organizations with a spirit of challenge, sparking innovation and driving forward new possibilities.

Overview of Our Organization / University / Research

Medical Shinan-sha is a non-profit organization established in 2007 by university faculty members and medical specialists affiliated with university hospitals, alongside researchers in knowledge and information processing. While university hospitals are staffed with specialists who provide evidence-based medical care, the expertise and knowledge they possess are not widely shared with general patients or healthcare professionals. This has led to disparities in the quality of care delivered across medical institutions. To address this issue, we provide online services both in Japan and internationally, focusing on two key areas:

● A healthcare platform aimed at preventing diabetes—affecting an estimated 20 million people in Japan including those at risk—which offers tools such as diabetes risk assessment, dietary guidance, and exercise therapy.
● A diagnostic imaging knowledge service designed to support early detection of disease. By training AI with the medical expertise, experience, and case data held by university hospitals, we aim to support the development of healthcare professionals and guide their diagnostic decisions in the right direction.

Through these initiatives, we strive to contribute to the realization of a society where people can enjoy long and healthy lives.
