- News
Robots are evolving from “replacing people” to “supporting people and empowering them to reach their full potential.”
How will Physical AI transform daily life, physical well-being, and social participation in an aging society?
In an aging society, how can technology not only extend healthy life expectancy, but also support and enhance people’s physical capabilities, daily lives, communication, and social participation?
The DOIC Technology Co-Creation Tour on September 29 will focus on the theme of “Physical AI × Aging Society.”
This two-part program will explore the future of life and technology, covering topics from healthcare, nursing care, and rehabilitation to robotics, AI, Physical AI, and human–robot coexistence.
In Part 1, Osaka University and the Inochi Forum will introduce initiatives that bring together universities, companies, government, and citizens to explore well-being in the future of Physical AI, with “life” as the starting point.
In Part 2, leading researchers and institutions, including the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, will present cutting-edge research and real-world applications in robotics and Physical AI for aging societies, as well as AI and robots designed to coexist with people.
Even if you are unable to attend on the day, you can still register to receive access to the archived video at a later date.
We warmly invite professionals and researchers involved in healthcare, nursing care, robotics, AI, mobility, well-being, new business development, R&D, and industry–academia collaboration to join us.
Benefits of joining this tour
● Looking Beyond “Healthy Life Expectancy”: An opportunity to explore how technology can support and expand what people are able to do—not only in healthcare and nursing care, but also in physical function, daily life, communication, and social participation.
● Physical AI and New Human–Robot Relationships in an Aging Society: Explore the potential of AI and robotics that can understand human conditions and behavior, collaborate and coexist with people, and support physical capabilities, daily life, communication, and social participation.
● Insights into Bringing Research into Real-World Use: We will introduce initiatives that help transform research and development outcomes into technologies that are actually used in practice, including the evaluation and implementation of robots and advanced technologies that support healthy longevity in healthcare, nursing care, and rehabilitation settings.

■ Featured Research and Topics (selected examples)
This two-part program will explore the future of society through the lens of “life,” while also highlighting cutting-edge research and real-world applications of robotics and Physical AI that support an aging society.
Part 1: “The Vision and Activities of the Inochi Forum”
● The Vision and Activities of the Inochi Forum (Osaka University / Inochi Forum)
Beyond individual challenges such as aging, healthcare, and well-being, we will explore what kind of society we should create for the future, with “life” as our starting point.
We will introduce the vision and initiatives of the Inochi Forum, which brings together diverse stakeholders—including universities, companies, government, and citizens—to jointly envision the future.
Part 2: “Supporting and Enhancing Life” — Robotics, Physical AI, and an Aging Society
● Bringing Robots into Healthcare and Nursing Care Settings: Social Implementation of Robotics to Support Healthy Longevity (National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology)
We will introduce initiatives aimed at bringing research and development into real-world use, including robots and advanced technologies that support healthy longevity, as well as their evaluation and implementation in healthcare, nursing care, and rehabilitation settings.
● Robotics and Physical AI for Human–Robot Coexistence
We plan to introduce AI and robotic technologies that understand human conditions and behavior, work collaboratively and coexist with people, and support physical capabilities, daily life, communication, and social participation.

What’s DOIC(Digital Open Innovation Campus)
DOIC is Japan’s largest university-led industry–academia collaboration support organization.
DOIC is a general incorporated association comprising 46 universities and research institutions from five countries, supporting companies in new business development and the resolution of technological challenges.
In the metaverse provided by DOIC,
DOIC operates a “digital campus” where research seeds and social implementation projects from universities and research institutions are showcased, enabling companies, universities, local governments, and other organizations to connect and co-create across organizational and regional boundaries.
In the metaverse provided by DOIC, various digital contents, including technological seeds, can be disseminated to the world and communicated anytime, anywhere. Industry, academia, government, municipalities, cultural figures, and citizens can collaborate through DOIC to form an organic network with people around the world.
