AI is evolving beyond simply “seeing and making decisions” to “touching, manipulating, and learning.”
How Will Physical AI Transform Automation and Intelligence in Manufacturing?

In addition to advances in image recognition and generative AI, Physical AI is now attracting significant attention. By giving AI a physical body in the form of a robot, Physical AI enables machines to perceive the real world, make decisions, learn, and carry out physical tasks.

The DOIC Technology Co-Creation Tour on October 30 will focus on the theme of “Physical AI × Manufacturing.”

This session will feature cutting-edge research in Physical AI and robotics from Osaka University and the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), highlighting advances in robotic manipulation, vision and tactile sensing, and robot learning that have the potential to transform manufacturing operations.

Osaka University will explore the potential of robots that can “touch, manipulate, and move” while perceiving the real world, through advances in robotic manipulation, vision and tactile sensing, and robotic foundation models.

The Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) will introduce technologies that enable robots to learn and adapt efficiently through reinforcement learning and imitation learning, as well as their potential applications in industry.

We are also coordinating presentations by universities and research institutions conducting cutting-edge research in Physical AI, intelligent robotics, and manufacturing automation.

Beyond simply introducing new technologies, this event will provide an opportunity to explore the future of autonomous and intelligent manufacturing, as well as the potential for collaborative research with industry and real-world implementation.

Even if you are unable to attend on the day, you can still register to receive access to the archived video at a later date.

We warmly invite professionals involved in manufacturing, robotics, AI, automation, new business development, research and development, and industry-academia collaboration to join us.

What’s DOIC(Digital Open Innovation Campus)

DOIC is Japan’s largest university-led industry–academia collaboration support organization.
DOIC is a general incorporated association comprising 46 universities and research institutions from five countries, supporting companies in new business development and the resolution of technological challenges.

In the metaverse provided by DOIC,
DOIC operates a “digital campus” where research seeds and social implementation projects from universities and research institutions are showcased, enabling companies, universities, local governments, and other organizations to connect and co-create across organizational and regional boundaries.

In the metaverse provided by DOIC, various digital contents, including technological seeds, can be disseminated to the world and communicated anytime, anywhere. Industry, academia, government, municipalities, cultural figures, and citizens can collaborate through DOIC to form an organic network with people around the world.
